Why The Author's Roost?

Regardless of your genre, style, writing intention, topical knowledge or speaking expertise our system represents an economical “broadcast medium.” Our low-cost membership offers many effective ways to reach out with your information to a community of organizations and institutions that regularly engage authors and speakers  -- and also to attract attention from local, regional and national media through a registration/communication program that keeps media representatives in touch with us -- and with you.

How will people find me?

You'll be listed in a completely searchable database of our members. Your self-constructed profile, which will include your biographical and professional information, your specific book or speaking information, your areas of  interest and expertise, your availability for interviews, etc. will be included in the Online Master Directory of Authors, Speakers, Seminar Leaders, Workshop Facilitators, Trainers, Consultants, Coaches and Presenters. The Directory may be searched using any term used in your profile page -- from your name or book title to the speaking categories you have listed, even to the areas to which you will travel to speak.

The Author's Roost will constantly be reaching out to all of America's print, broadcast and Internet media, regularly updating them on new members and encouraging them to register with us for specific contact on matters that interest them -- often subjects you may be involved with.

And we will be helping you to introduce yourself to the audiences you'd like to reach with a unique contact program, available to members only, that will put you in direct touch with the very meeting planners and program chairpeople you want to attract to your offerings. We call it, "Hello, there!" -- and that's a good way to look at it, because we will introduce you and call attention to you instead of your having to "sell" yourself. For many people, this may be the biggest benefit of the program and of Author's Roost membership.

I'm new at this. Can you help me improve and grow?

If you're not already an accomplished public speaker or media interviewee  -- or if  you're downright terrified of trying to be either of those -- the Authors’ Roost has expert coaches, mentors and teachers available to work with you, sometimes for free and sometimes at reasonable cost, to develop your program, improve your speaking style, deepen your “personal presentation skills,” and raise your over-all comfort level about speaking to groups and to representatives of the media at all levels. Once you become a member, simply consult our Member Resource pages, where you will find exactly what or whom you need to move you toward success.

Are there fees or commissions payable to The Author's Roost when I get a speaking engagement or interview or review?

No. When a group contacts you to speak or present or contribute, either through us or directly (if referred by our website), you get to negotiate with the venue on price and terms, so you absolutely control your own destiny as a speaker -- and you won't owe any money to us, since we do not function as a Program Bureau or Speakers' Agent; rather, we are simply a "Referral Service." Of course, we'd really like to hear from you when our service works for you. That's our paycheck.
